Intravenous infusion is one of the most common clinical treatment methods, covering inpatient wards, outpatient departments and home infusion scenarios. At present, most clinical infusion work relies on manual nursing monitoring, which is prone to problems such as inaccurate flow rate control, untimely alarm for infusion completion, and accidental infusion leakage. For special patient groups such as children, the elderly and critically ill patients, unstable infusion speed may cause adverse reactions such as drug overdose and venous irritation, bringing potential safety hazards to clinical treatment. In response to the pain points of traditional manual infusion management, this study designs an IoT-based intelligent intravenous infusion monitoring medical device. The device adopts high-precision photoelectric sensing and gravity sensing modules to real-timely monitor infusion droplet speed, residual liquid volume and infusion pipeline status. Once abnormal conditions such as too fast or too slow infusion rate, liquid emptying and pipeline blockage occur, the device will automatically trigger local sound and light alarms and synchronously push early warning information to nurses’ mobile terminals and ward monitoring platforms. The system supports intelligent automatic adjustment of infusion flow rate according to clinical medical orders, and records the whole process data of infusion treatment to form standardized medical records. Long-term clinical application verification shows that the intelligent infusion monitoring device effectively reduces nursing errors, reduces the workload of medical staff, eliminates infusion safety hazards, and realizes intelligent, automated and refined management of clinical intravenous infusion. It is a low-cost and high-efficiency auxiliary medical device suitable for popularization in various levels of hospitals and home medical scenarios.
